A little about Venice, Florida
Venice, Florida, located in Sarasota County, is a city that lures not only tourists and new residents but urban planners. Some of these people have come here to view the architectural work by John Nolen done in the 1920’s, he one of the nations first urban planners. Nolen, who is a natural at urban planning, learned his specialty from his mentor Frederick Law Olmstead. Olmstead was the landscape architect who designed New York’s Central Park. Structures such as these are what make Venice so enjoyable and livable.
Venice is known for its friendly, small-town feel, its cunning shopping areas full of low-rise buildings that are primarily built in a Mediterranean style. Venice’s lovely boulevards are shaded by giant live oaks that reach from downtown to the whimsical beaches. The beaches, sitting on the Gulf of Mexico, start at the northern edge of the city. This is where the Venice jetties, or boat docks, open a passage to the Gulf of Mexico, this area extends for miles. Much of it is not developed and links into Sarasota County’s Caspersen Beach Park.
In addition to the beautiful beaches, a central park can be accessed, it runs along Venice’s main street, Venice Avenue. This street is the site of many lively concerts, various special events and attractions, along with arts and craft shows. Throughout the city there are various neighborhood parks where the family can play. These parks as well as other parts of the city feature designs that inspired architects and city planners to work on what is called the New Villages concept of city planning.
The most common feedback of people who move to or buy real estate in Venice is always positive. Visitors and home owners love the shops, parks and beautiful beaches. I invite you to see for yourself.
Cosmetic Improvements >The Sniff Test
The sense of smell is a powerful motivator. When prospective buyers walk into a house, they respond more positively if they smell freshly baking oatmeal cookies instead of the lingering odor of a household pet.
As the homeowner, you may not notice odors that visitors are aware of as soon as they walk in the door. When your house is for sale, ask a friend or neighbor to give it a "sniff test". If there are offensive odors in your home, how do you get rid of them?
There are a few simple solutions--giving the floors and walls a good scrubbing, using the old vanilla-on-the-light-bulb trick, plugging in an essential oil diffuser and throwing out the dog's special chair. You can temporarily declare your home a "no smoking" zone. You may need professional help for cleaning carpets and drapes or deodorizing walls and wood floors. Your real estate agent will be able to provide you with a list of cleaning services which can assist you in making your home
smell clean and fresh.
